The story behind my name

My name is He Weilin (何委霖). The surname 何 is spelled like the English "he", but sounds closer to "her". 霖, "rain" over "forest", means shelter and nourishment. And said fast, "He Weilin" sounds like hé wéi líng: "sum equals zero". So people just call me 00.

Math saved me from alcohol

I don't drink. The one time I tried, freshman year, I apparently dissolved into uncontrollable tears, begging my friends to let me go back so I could study Advanced Mathematics. The next morning I had zero memory of any of it, blissfully clueless until someone showed me the video. I took it as a sign from the universe and never touched alcohol again.

Pool regular

I'll happily spend a whole day by the pool. One detail: I can't swim.

Ex content creator

My best week as a creator: +10k followers in seven days. The camera's off for now, but don't be surprised when I'm back with a blog or an AI tutorial channel. Follow early, so you can say you were.

Quietly a poet

I write. At my middle-school graduation I led the class reciting a poem I'd written for our school; by the end of high school I'd filled eight notebooks with collected passages. In university I ran a WeChat column (微信公众号, a Chinese self-publishing platform similar to Substack, where writers post articles to a subscriber base) of original poems and essays (once even interviewed by Tianjin University's PR team), and I still keep it alive. Every year-end I publish a reflection that runs to tens of thousands of words.

Behind the lens

I shoot. Portraits first, then landscapes, especially the cold and snowy kind. Growing up in Guizhou I'd only seen snow once before 18, which probably explains the obsession. Best place I've shot: Norway. Planning a trip? Ask me for spots.

My anti-horror soundtrack

I'm a coward with horror films, so my fix is to play Hao Yun Lai (好运来) over them, a wildly festive Chinese New Year anthem (think "Celebration", but with extra "good luck is coming!"). Drop it over a jumpscare and the scariest movie turns into a sitcom.

Caffeine-powered human

A total coffee lover, so obsessed I even taught myself how to make it. Back in undergrad I worked at a café founded by alumni (a one-minute walk from my lecture building), purely so I could get my coffee fix the fastest every day. If you want to see my latte art, invite me out for coffee. I'm also a hardcore bubble tea fan, basically running on both caffeine and bubble tea.

Cats & dogs, my one true weakness

Completely defenseless against anything furry. Standing request: spam me with your fur babies. Grids welcome, videos preferred, bring 'em all.
